Go Ahead, Give Yourself a Pat On The Back #FixThePlus

Hello, everyone. I thought I would never see the day but I did it! I finished one of my To-Do list which was organised my bookmarks. I have one happy Notepad.

One by one I went to every page I had bookmarked copying and pasting  through dozens of bookmarked addresses arranging them into doable subjects enabling me to visually know what I'm doing.

I still have quite a few addresses getting rid of the doubles and triples deleting all of those so my list looks so nice and neat. I'm going to share them but you will have to copy and paste into your address bar, there are just too many to link. Hope you find something useful here.

Tips On How Not To Lose Your Mind In Cyberland #FollowFriday #FixThePlus

We all know what it is like on the internet. Way back when my son convinced me to buy a computer for 'homework' he warned, "Mom be careful, you can become addicted", to which I scoffed off as please, not me. But addicted I became.

I was so green that instead of making online files I printed everything in sight using computer paper and ink at an alarming rate. Plus I would download everything in sight because it said 'free download'. What could possibly go wrong?

My son would sigh and tell me, "That's okay mom I will fix it" and spend about an hour getting my computer away from those internet trolls. Again he would patiently give me the same advice over and over again until it finally took. Thank you, son, I love you. Ariel too just in case your reading this:)

I started out my morning with my coffee going thru my Google alerts (at least that still works) Of course when you share and click on the hopefully working G+ boxes, you get another flow of alerts from your G. friends.

In between that, I read one of +Jeremy Crow  from The Whacko Blog to sign in to your friend's blogs that you follow so if it all goes to hell, we still got each other together. Great advice.

Working on your computer is a lot like working, actually, if I think about it is work. I have taken to reminding myself to take breaks as if it was an off-line job. Now it's been about three hours since I started wanting to achieve some headway to what I want to do so I'm making a list.

1. Read your favorite blogs, comment and share with #FollowFriday  #FixThePlus. (I always forget the days of the week themes but I'm getting better)

2. Drink some coffee and stare out the window dreamily. (You might want to rub your eyes and a little Visine wouldn't hurt)

3. Go to your Google + profile to say hi and share. (Don't get distracted by all the pretty pictures. I'm very much like Dora on Finding Nemo, I love that movie)

4. Do # 2 again and this time, you can do some slow neck rolls. (With this damn fibromyalgia and even if you don't have it, loosens up your neck and shoulders).

5. Make a list of the stuff you want to do and do it one task at a time. (Or at least keep it in the same catagory).

6. Fix and refresh all my posts that need it. (I just thank the forces that are I only have a couple hundred).

My list today and the problem the next couple of days is this.

A. Sign up on all my blogs that I haven't already signed up for. (I love people and have the good fortune to have a lot of bloggers I follow.

B. Sort out my Pinterest Board into more sub-categories. (This is good to do before you accumulate too many pins). I also schedule my pins now using a program called TailWind but check frequently for those internet burbs).

C. Sort out my bookmarks. (My friend  Becky Barnfather at Organizing Made Fun would be horrified as I am, it would be like opening your closet door with everything tumbling out on yourself).

6. Go back to #2 and Eat something! (Those internet munchie crumbs aren't going to fall on your keyboard by themselves).

7. Walk away from your keyboard, go for a walk, which I'm going to do shortly.

So there you have how to not lose your mind in cyberland.

How To Be A Better Blogger Can Steal Your Day

Where did my day go??
Determined to learn more about blogging fixing my photo on my last post thanks to Jeremy Crow over at The Whackos Blog I took a nap. You did what? I thought you were going to tell me something about Stealing you're asking yourself. I started when I got up!

In my pursuit of being the best blogger in the whole wide world, at least, to me and my loyal readers, (all three of them) I sit with new determination and start typing in the keywords that will make my dream come true. When I had rolled out of bed it was bright and sunny. A great day for Vermont. I read what comes up, some of it I can understand but come on, I'm not asking for college courses, free this or free that hmm.

I found the perfect answers when I typed in how to be a better blogger for dummies. That did the trick! As I'm reading with awe and amazement that I actually understood what was written in front of me taking notes as I'm reading and pinning to Pinterest. You can find that on my Pinterest link on the right side of  this posting. Blogs/Bloggers/Blogging Tips & Tricks is the board.

Which reminds me to go back and check my own board instead of pinning and bookmarking to my favorites. The list got so long no wonder I scared myself!  Needless to say, I'm hard at work studying, finding really cool generators, getting tips, joyfully reading along I notice it's getting darker...and darker...I'm squinting now, I look up to no more sun it's pitch black outside. Being a better blogger just stole my day!

Here is what I accumulated while the day went by.

Thinking Back Tuesdays Story Time #1

I started writing my story at the urging of my kids, several years ago. Personally I think they wore weary of all my stories, just kidding kids! I would think about it a lot finally putting pen to paper fingers to keyboard when my first grandchild was born. You are my motivation dear one. I never knew I could love anyone else as much as my own children for which there is none like a mother's love which is where the term "I love you to the moon and back" comes from. I have made mistakes, moved mountains, motivated by my children, raising them to be strong, independent people, and to be better off than I was. I wasn't prepared for Empty Nest Syndrome which hit me hard when my son spread his wings and flew off to the military. You would of thought the sting of separation would of been lessened, he had been going to Florida to see his father and his wonderful now wife since he was five or six. I remember that was the very first time I had ever sat foot in a commercial airline, my son looking so tiny in the seat. That was the day my heart broke, just a little. I think the oceans are really made of all the mother's in the world's tears.
The stewardess assured me he would be watched over all the way there and I managed to hold back my tears until I stepped off the plane watching it fly my little son away from me. Hours later I got the expected phone call that all was well, I could finally relax.
Now when my daughter grew up and decided she wanted adventure I gave her my blessing, smiling and waving good-bye, I wished her well breathing a sigh of relief that she had the strength to leave the go nowhere town we lived in, closed the door and cried, my heart breaking a little more.
I am lucky that despite all the miles and years that go by we are deeply, completely bound to each other staying in touch through Skype, Facebook, phone calls, letters and cards and visits. Also talking to everyone I know I have drawn comfort that I am not alone in missing my children. I started this story while you were still in your mommy's belly. You were early, you little early bird! Grandma loves you already.
So without further ado here is Grandma Rose's story, my gift to you. Oh yes, You have a little brother coming and we all are going to have a wonderful time!

                                         GRANDMA ROSE'S ADVENTURES

Hello, little one and by little one I'm talking to you while you are still in your Mommy's belly.I already have an idea of what you will look like from your sonogram. Your parents are really looking forward to meeting you and so is everyone else.

Your name has changed a couple of times, but that’s just normal and what parents do. Your Aunt Amy who is my oldest daughter was born June 21st, 1980 in Palm Springs, California where I was raised. I wanted to name her “Summer” and it just happens that “Summer Begins” is June 21st which I think would have been too cool but at my mother's insistent nagging, I ended up naming her Amy and I think now it may be Cindy but hang on...I'm getting ahead of myself! You will read about Aunt Amy later.

How Grandpa C. and I got your daddy's name was we made a deal. Grandpa C. was in charge of the first names, I was in charge of the middle name. After you were born, I chose to name your father after my grandpa who is with the angels now. It's a nice strong name.

I asked your mommy on Facebook how she got her name and she told me, “My mom just liked the name”. “My middle name is my mom and dads middle name together”.

Now your Aunt Ariel came by her name from the Movie The Little Mermaid. I loved the spelling, not to mention the movie, which me and your daddy watch at least a million  hundred times, and her middle name Chelsie was a name I really liked from a man who's daughter was named, thinking it sounded like a song. I love the way your Auntie's whole name sounds like singing.

Okay, kiddo Grandma's Adventures is about to begin... Stay tuned for the next installment of  GRANDMA ROSE'S ADVENTURES next Tuesday's Thinking Back Tuesdays Story Time.

I really really want everyone's input and I have a thick skin and am willing to learn so please comment what you all think!

Getting Organized Continues

1. Gather up my story.
I have started my stories of my life and the pages are scattered to the four corners of the web. Well, maybe not that far but the pages are here and there. I have already started putting the pages I have found in one folder. The goal is for my grandchildren to have a record of my life.

Update: I have found all my pages except the start of my story about my life as a 'Carnie'. But when I figure out this Windows 10 talking instead of typing program I will be golden.

I put all my pages on Grammarly which is free and you can upgrade.
I also found SlickWrite
Many thanks to Becky at Organizing Made Fun for giving me lots of ideas. She has a great blog which I have followed since I started blogging last July 2015.

2. Sort Out Pinterest
I have I think thirty boards and somewhere along the line my pins need to be transferred to the correct board. I worked on that yesterday completing one board. Twenty-nine to go.

3. Photos
I once tried putting a search from the start menu for photos and my desktop screen disappeared with thousands of photos covering it in an effort to get them all in one place. These photos are of course a story in themselves which I could use for my blog. I have had Photobucket for years now, leaving it to be covered in cyber dust. In coming back it looks like my brain, scattered.

Update: I can't cross this off yet but my photos are basically all in one area on my desktop ready to sort.

4. Memories for Posts
Being fifty-seven I have had the most amazing memories that I want to post about. The helping part of me. Again, where do I start? Maybe a name change which I have no idea how to do that.

Update: I have made Thinking Back Tuesday solid. I just wish I could put all my thinking on hold when I go lay down for the night!

5. Teaching Myself Blogging
I have bookmarked a list of reading material to elevate my understanding of blogging. I stopped bookmarking, for now, I have to go back and read them.

6. The Fun Stuff
I want to learn about the fun side of blogging. The pictures you can do yourself, etc.

Update: I made Dora here at https://makeameme.org/

Update: When I'm not so bone tired I will make a list of the Blogs I have bookmarked and the links.

So there you have it. I love seeing something that means a lot to me moving forward, making a list helps.

I Have A Problem, Maybe You Can Help:)

I have a problem. I have taken to making notes about what I would like to post about. I have made a To-Do list as well. I'm pretty sure I am the baby of this blogging world with eight months in. (The neatest thing happened. I was looking at my views on my way to tweaking my blog and saw 7900 views. I looked up telling my husband this. He called up my blog reading my post and right before my very eyes the numbers changed to 8000).

Anyways I will write down my thought for a post on my little notepad next to my laptop. It's a lot faster than the two whole minutes calling up my on-line list! Here is the problem. I have more ideas than I do days. What would you suggest for I don't want to overwhelm myself and run down the street yelling too many ideas!!

Here is my To-Do List

1. Gather up my story.
I have started my stories of my life and the pages are scattered to the four corners of the web. Well, maybe not that far but the pages are here and there. I have already started putting the pages I have found in one folder. The goal is for my grandchildren to have a record of my life.

6. The Fun Stuff
I want to learn about the fun side of blogging. The pictures you can do yourself, etc.

7. Housework
I went into my bedroom to get a cooler dress on. It has become very warm this afternoon. While I was in the bedroom I made the bed, went and got an old sock to dust with. Back pain kicked in and I'm now sitting down.

So bring on the ideas and what thoughts makes your world go 'round.

Copyright This!

Hello, and how are you today, or should I say night. I'm sitting here after about two hours learning about how to stay out of trouble looking into  copyright policies.  I have, and the sites I visited did mention to be careful about 'stealing' another's (what happened to share?) ideas whether it be photos, art, music, anything you can imagine. They are right about one of their points about being on the web for as long as I have you can get lax and let your guard down.

Now I know the most obvious rule. 'Give credit where it is due' showing the link of the website you want to share what you have learned. My own 'rude awakening' was an email from Pinterest. They had to take down some of my pictures that I had pinned. I was under the impression if it shows that little red pin logo in the corner or anywhere around it, it's okay to pin it. Except on Facebook, they make it very clear you can't use their photos and you can't automatically, evidently someone complained and I'm glad all that happened where the offending photos were taken off my board.

So I decided to take a deep breath cos I hate studying this crap and really anything at all, telling myself do it when your nice and alert for only about two hours, which I did. >patting self on back< So I actually learned how to do what it takes to find infringement free photos which I will share what I found for information and for free images. I had no idea after all these years at the bottom right-hand side on Google there are three links to use. Privacy Terms and Settings. This is after you call up Google and click on 'images'. Then you can custom click what you actually want. What a deal.

The thing is for the next few days rest of my life, I will be taking, at least, an hour out of my day to follow up on all this stuff.

How To Be A Proper Blogger.

Okay, I'm doing what I've been learning about blogging and typed in trending social media and one of the suggestions was Buzzfeed.

I look through the News section first and find nothing of interest for as you probably well know, I'm more into the humorous subject and/or poking fun at something.

Moving on I click on Buzzfeed. Kathy Griffin and Kristin Chenoweth pop up. I'm a huge fan of Miss Griffin despite the strong colorful language and enjoy their camaraderie and subject matter which is about worst hecklers ever.

Amused by Kathy and Kristin I now feel like I've known them for years, thanks, girls, I move on to the Life button. Oh boy, this is getting better.I like the Life button.

It's got an article about...surprise...cooking Thanksgiving Dinner in a slow cooker causing me to thinking of writing a book, 101 ways to cook a turkey/leftovers, don't even think about giving any to your dog aka furry friend.

I skim over a model and her eating habits, screw you skinny person, you just reminded me I'm getting hungry.

Next I'm delighted to see Lady GaGa. For some weird reason ever since I saw Lady Gaga on the Jimmy Fallon Show I decided I liked her. Now she is everywhere. Now I got to check American Horror Story: Hotel.

Then I come across a new trend called glittering your roots which remind me of a Gynecological joke about said glitter and how the hell do you wash that all out. I guess it becomes body glitter forever. I scroll down and see How the ~Beep~ do you get it off. Yeah, I already asked that I think, feeling like a smarty pants.

The answer was disappointing to say the least. I have sprayed Halloween glitter over my head in my younger years and don't think I won't do it again now in my "getting older" years, maybe but would you and if you do I wanna see a picture.

Can you think of another way to use glitter?

To Comment or Not To Comment?

Don't you just love thoughts or an idea or thoughts of an idea that just won't go away? For me once it's in there unless I forget it its there for good!

I have been on the net for a long time. Longer then some but not as long as others. Like my husband who is 5 years younger then me has been on computers since they were ungodly huge and bulky.

Anyways I love when a new hobby comes along that shows you the "other side". In this case, the other side of blogging.

It's the comment section awareness. There should be a comment awareness month. Why not? It could make a lot of people happy as long as its nice and helps. No flaming please...or rudeness which reminds me of being careful what you wish for.

For me looking over my posts and seeing a comment perks me right up. So I imagine how someone else would feel as long as no being rude and hiding behind the internet to make someone else feel bad.

So the conclusion to all this rambling is...I'm making more of an effort to comment when a post appeals, moves or inspires me and you know what? It makes me feel good taking a few seconds to make someone else feel good as well.

What do you think about commenting?

Here We Go Again! #FixThePlus *

I had to step away from my blogging for a short while.

I told my husband I was feeling scattered  and unorganized.

So he sat down next to me and he helped me to decide to combine all the blogs I had started into one Blog and just post on the one which made me feel a whole lot better!

After all, I'm just starting out and sometimes I go for the big picture before I have even learned the steps to get the big picture!

After all, this is supposed to be fun.

So I have taken each blog and broke the posts for each one and put the post on a notepad.

My desktop is three rows deep but for tonight, I am going to finally relax and watch some HBO Mermaids.

Giving my brain a break for the night!

Do you ever feel scatterbrained?
