Thursdays Are For Trivia

Welcome to Thursdays Are For Trivia. I enjoy learning little bits of information and like all things I like sharing it with you. Please enjoy today's question.

A Book
Amazon began as an online bookstore, selling books out of Jeff Bezos’ garage. After reading a report about the future of the Internet that projected annual Web commerce growth at 2,300%, Jeff Bezos created a list of 20 products that could be marketed online. Bezos finally decided that his new business would sell books online, due to the large world-wide demand for literature, the low price points for books, along with the huge number of titles available in print. In July 1995, Amazon.com opened its virtual doors, calling itself "Earth's Biggest Book Store," with more than 1 million titles to choose from. The first book sold on Amazon was a book titled "Fluid Concepts & Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought."

Thursdays Are For Trivia #FixThePlus

Welcome to Thursdays Are For Trivia. I enjoy learning little bits of information and like all things I like sharing it with you. Please enjoy today's question.

Samuel L. Jackson

The tagline is most often used in association with the company's credit card products. Capital One introduced its brand campaign in 2000 to generate consumer awareness of the Capital One name. The "What's in your wallet?" campaign has been made famous by many celebrities over the years, from Alec Baldwin to Samuel L. Jackson. Capital One is a bank holding company that specializes in credit cards and loans. When measured in terms of total assets and deposits, Capital One is the eighth-largest bank holding company in the United States.

What's in your wallet? Wait...maybe I don't want to know!

Thursdays Are For Trivia #FixThePlus

Welcome back to Thursdays Are For Trivia.

Thursday Trivia is starting to pick up stat wise so I will continue to post trivia questions and answers until I figure out whether to continue or do something else.

I'm rethinking Monday's Television theme and will decide before this coming Monday. Let me know what you think.

The new species, a large yellow spider in Malaysia, is called Heteropoda davidbowie. The species name honors David Bowie, with particular reference to songs such as "Glass Spider" and the resemblance of the frontal view of the spider to the singer's painted face in his early career. Bowie had a 1972 album entitled The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and his 1987 tour was named the Glass Spider Tour.

How To Lick The Rest Of May #FixThePlus

How to lick the rest of May? Buy a delicious
raspberry ice cream cone and lick away!

Yesterday my family had an all day outing to see an Occupational Therapist which took one and a half hours to get there, another four hours of testing, then the drive home.

The best part was stopping at an Ice Cream stand to get our treat.

Now THATS how you should travel and lick the rest of May!

A super nice Rest Area on the way to Burlington.

Same place.

What are you going to do to 'lick' the rest of may?

Trivia For Mother's Day

If you would like to see the answer read further...

In his Mother's Day proclamation, Wilson called “upon the government officials to display the United States flag on all government buildings, and the people of the United States to display the flag at their homes or other suitable places on the second Sunday in May as a public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country.”

Have a wonderful day.

Thursdays Are For Trivia

Hello, everyone, I love trivia coming up with the idea to post a trivia Question with the Answer making Thursdays Are For Trivia. I will see how it does to keep it going or not. I generate my meme's through Recite.com.

So now I have on a regular shedule Monday's Are For Movies Online Entertainment where I watch a lot of movies & T.V. shows I have plenty to share in that category. I also post where you can watch for free which I will gladly share with you.

Thinking Back Tuesdays I am telling the story of my life, the lessons I may or may not have learned. I want to help or show we are not all alone in this journey called life. My story is inspired by my first-born Grandson and a brother is on the way.

How To Enjoy The First Bar-b-cue Of The Year

Everyone knows that familiar delightful smell, someone's barbecuing! Oh boy.

It's a nice slightly warm day, sitting out in the sun can get you really warmed up, sitting in the shade is a little cooler under the tent awning you have used for years.

I love cold pasta and potato salads. Hamburgers, hotdogs, maybe chicken go well together.

That's what Mr. Rose and I did this last Sunday. I would have posted Sunday but I was too full and tired out from good food, good company, my In-Laws and mountain fresh air.

I love it out in Marshville. In fact, that's the town my husband and I got married in. It's a mixture of mountain, country type setting.

One time there was actually a cow in the road with a police officer calling it like you would a horse, it was funny.

We stayed all day having hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken all grilled to perfection. I made a dump cake which came out nice and gooey.

A couple who lived down the road a piece dropped in and were invited to stay so, all in all, it was a long beautiful day and I can't wait to do it again.

Have you had a barbecue yet?

Oh Boy, Gamers Paradise

If you’ve ever visited Amsterdam, you’ll know it’s a magical place. Mostly for the sights and the people of course, and definitely not the vast amounts of readily available weed. Whatever your views on recreational drug use anyway, it’s a great place to visit. Now, thanks to a new dedicated gamer hotel, it just became even greater.
The Arcade Hotel in Amsterdam has been dubbed the “world’s first hotel for gamers” where guests can hang out, play retro classics as well as modern titles, and do all that other boring hotel stuff like sleep in luxury, eat delicious food, and drink half your weight in gin. If you’ve ever wanted to see if you’d still be any good at Duck Hunt after getting smashed on booze, this is the place to do it.
I know quite a few gamers, my husband and son  at the top of the list, would love to go to a place like this. They are the first ones I thought of when I 'stumbled" across this article.

If you had the chance would you go visit? I love stories so do tell.

100 Exquisite Adjectives
By Mark Nichol

I love words and came across a list of them. I'm going to add a word a day to my posts as long as I don't forget.

Word #17. Corpulent: obese

I was dismayed at how corpulent I had become.

American Horror Story #FixThePlus

I am now officially caught up with American Horror Story. It's a perfect example of my personality to start something..then stop..wait...where did I leave off? Crap, gotta start over again which I tried with the Walking Dead but decided to, after sitting through season 1 & 2...again, I jumped up to season 4. Good enough I say.

Freak Show was the best Season yet. I stand in awe of the actors and how they can play so many different characters so well you forget who they were before.

At different parts of the show, I'm screaming inside my head "kill him, kill the little shithead" and my nice girl voice asks me if that's very nice to which I reply "kill him, kill the little shithead" . It's fun being evil or as Mike Myers in I Married An Ax Murderer said...E-vil.

I like what the freaks did to this one guy...yes I have already forgotten his name only remembering he died as a fairy killing, evil vampire in True Blood...at the end...oh what do you care.

He was turned into this tiny all I can say is a thing with feathers with his own head and I'm still mad it was so blurry I couldn't truly see his suffering.

It made me wince to watch "Dandy" die by drowning, but I loved the way he was in a glass box so you could see everything. What spoiled it for me were the "tidy whities". ~Yuck~ The butt were even a little baggy.<<<gagging.

Catching up my horror shows and watching them up to date as a popcorn-munching, well I used to before dentures, okay so chip munching, horror/supernatural movie lover, I'm quite proud of myself

So I'm going to take a nap now then when I get up a nice night of zombie binge watching is on my agenda.

I love St. Johnsbury In All It's Seasons #FixThePlus *

The last couple of days has been pretty busy compared to the rest of the time when it is not. Which must be because its summer time. I think we have had two whole days of full sunshine, but I'm telling you, I love when it rains! I would have been so happy on Noah's Ark, but I would of needed something to hang on to as I went floating by. What an imagination I got but I love it.

Okay, I'm back.

There was the trip to the Doctor day before yesterday where I am now waiting for a biopsy test results. I didn't realize they take so much skin and now it stings ~wah~ But I showed it to Mummy and Daddy and they made it all better. Its still stings shhh shhh. I'll be glad to find out what in the world it is finally.

Then today I sent off my daughter's birthday card with her present in it thanks to my wonderful In-Laws who brought me up to the Post Office where I got to meet a new postal worker. He was fun in a wacky kind of way.

She is turning twenty-five on the 25th, I love that and I don't get to send things out very often but ever since we stopped smoking we got a little extra money. I'm not going to say what it is in case she reads this post neener neener Ariel!

Then I went to Family Dollar and bought a few things and then returned home.

Again it's cloudy but I can hear the kids playing softball behind where I live. There is the River then the huge park where a baseball field is. Vermont is very pretty. It's like camping all the time.

Now I hear the neighbor's Harley. I'm in heaven.
My husband's brother and family are going to be visiting from Florida by the 14th of this month and I will be meeting them for the first time which should be fun.

Are you looking forward to summer?

How To Make Simple As Doing Dishes #FixThePlus *

I was doing dishes. That's when I do my best musings. I'm eyeing the dish drainer wondering for the millionth time how does a dish drainer get  so dirty from clean dishes and water?

I was doing dishes as fast as I could before my back pain settled in.
Wash wash wash...rinse rinse rinse.
I'm almost at the end of the dishes. All I have left to do are the silverware which to me is a pain in my tush.

Usually, I throw them in the dish drainer willy nilly and forget about dishes having to rush to my seat with the back pain monster right behind me but not today! Today I have a plan!

            I'll make a silverware holder.

Now that little invisible voice who loves to "voice" her opinion in my head speaks up trying to shame me by asking, "why now stupid, you've lived here three years" to which I reply, "don't judge me voice".

An idea was forming in my head. I watch a lot of YouTube projects and read about homemade projects that you don't have to spend money on so I think to myself, I got a 2-liter bottle of Root beer in the fridge! Yes, I love love love recycling.

I take out the bottle and notice I have to drink the rest of the Root beer before I can use the bottle so ~gulp gulp gulp~yes I know, I could have poured it down the drain but I'm cheap and besides...its Root beer.

Argggg brain freeze I think to myself, but the bottle is almost empty. A couple more gulps and its done. After a nice rinse, I can now begin.
The first "silverware drainer" I made I did it with the hole down.

For the drainage. That wasn't a very good idea because straws, knifes and anything narrow enough to stick through would fall out. Hmmmmmm.
So one day I finally had enough and proudly threw away my homemade silverware drainer. Proud because I had made it and prouder I actually threw something away I'm such a hoarder.

Project #2 is now starting to form in my mind as what I consider an ingenious mind for all things homemade and crafty, I go downstairs and dig through the big black plastic bag full of returnables for another plastic 2-liter bottle. I find one, I'm on a roll now and return back upstairs and promptly find my scissors.

I cut off half the bottle like a pro stabbing the bottom for drainage and there it will sit until it gets dirty although I'm resigned to never knowing why or how that happens, until I need a new one.

What do you do to save money?

Crafting Shibori Looks Fun #FixThePlus *

Today has been quite the eventful day at least

from my perspective.

And it's not over yet.

Went to see Susan, my counselor this morning. I

really love that woman she is so much like me.

We have a lot in common which is always nice.

I have come a long way since February when I first started seeing her.

I loved what she was wearing so she introduced me to the wonderful world of shibori which I cannot wait to try out!

That's next on my craft list.

From what I understand, it's economical and easy.

Right up my alley for I have this glaring white cotton dress I'm 'dying' to try out!

Will let ya know for sure.

I just finish the American Community Survey so now I'm free for the more fun stuff.

So I got a new person to add on Facebook so I'd better get to that before I lose the piece of paper. Bye for now.

What do you like as a craft?

Remembering Past 4th of Julys #FixThePlus *

Dear Barrett,

Hello, little one who's not born yet. If you hear loud cracking noises those are just fireworks hunnie. This will be your first 4th of July only your still all safe and warm in your mommy's belly:)
Portland, Maine Fireworks

Your Daddy and Aunt Ariel had many fun times in Sanford, Maine around #1 Pond where they would have a festival and a show on the water. Everyone from town would be there. Some years it would be cloudy and the fireworks would go up looking like flares and I would joke that it looked like we were sending up flares for help!

One 4th of July I got it in my head to go to as many 4th of July's I could get in. That year we must have gone to four or five of them never tiring of the fun.

Another 4th of July your Daddy had gone to see your Grandpa Couture for the summer so I just had your Aunt Ariel. This was in Portland, Maine. I had grown tired of several years in a row it being cloudy over #1 Pond and wanted to try somewhere new.

We went out for lunch and brought the leftovers which were yummy seafood. We watched as people started coming in and I remember looking and seeing this friend named Brice and ran over to say hi. Aunt Ariel was keeping busy like she always did creating this awesome sand castle with rock, shells, and stones.

We watched as the musicians sat up there instruments hearing, check 1 check 2 check.. check. We were getting excited about the beach was filling up, the band was playing and the men getting ready to set off the fireworks. It was dark now and the sky was clear; we couldn't wait! HaHa Sanford...no red flares this 4th of July!

Then disaster struck...

One firework went off...then another...then the grand finale went off...on the ground! Fireworks were shooting everywhere and as everyone watched in disbelief this went on for about 5 mins. We hear an announcement that there was an accident and everyone started leaving for their cars and going home.

Next day we heard the news that a firework had been dropped lit which sat off all the other fireworks and the guy setting them off had died. It's safe to say that  was the crappiest 4th of July ever!

How have you enjoyed your 4th of July?
