I admit I'm a Scatterbrain...

And I decided to do something about that. During the summer here in Vermont, there are several completely different things going on that I have been blogging about, mainly the fact that I decided to become a blogger in the first place. It was either think of something to do or feel simultaneously  worthless and hopeless at the same time.

I had put off applying for Physical Disability because I really love to work and make money but finally gave in and applied. In fact tomorrow I will be getting the on the phone interview which my husband will speak for me for it's nothing for my eyes to glaze over and stare out the window while it sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher talking. Blah blah blah huh?

Okay, so that's one thing. Then my son announces he and his beautiful wife want a baby. I'm going to be a new grandma, hence, Grandma Rose was born. 8 months later he's here. First of all where did 8 months go and your early you little bugger? Welcome to the world! I get the same reaction from other grandma's when I tell them I'm a new first-time grandma ( faces lite up) but they live in Florida (faces frown...awwww)

Then there was the one week stay in Florida compliments of my son and his wife with all that comes with air travel.

Next my husband has to have surgery again, this Friday, which the healing from his first surgery is going fine, at least that's what the nurses say leaving me to do the bandage changing which, believe me, I don't mind but want to tell them that's why you're getting the big bucks. I now have another skill. This Friday will be another surgery to graft skin from his inner thighs. He shall be all set for a while.

I'm also still  tweaking my blog putting up the picture of a baby sleeping in a red rose which I think fits perfectly, but I still need to study and learn more of course. So I decided to follow +Jeremy Crow at The Whacko Blog going to his archives and starting from the beginning because I am after his blogging tips. So now I am once more at least as far as blogging is concerned, focused once again.

Floods,Surgerys,Movies & Fall.

South Carolina is getting all of California's rain. Seeing I was raised in California, I'm sad to see the changes that drought does to the lakes and scenery, not to mention I have memories of growing up in the desert of Palm Springs so I remember boiling hot but the pools always had water in them. Some of the homes still do I saw on Sky-Cam. Looks weird surrounded by dead vegetation.

Everywhere is different now weather wise. At least the places I know. We have this beautiful Maple tree out in the front yard. I decided to record it for forever and have been taking a picture once a day to show how quickly it turns Fall around here. I have a few pictures of the hills but from talking to some of the people that grew up here, the weather has been different for a long time. I notice this but don't really address it and when I do, I have a blog I can go too. The pictures will come after all the leaves are gone off the "ole Maple tree.

I saw where they did Chuck's surgery. At the initial "ew" I got in close for a better look. That's what I've been up to for the last few days helping best I can with my inflictions. I'll keep going until I'm crawling. The home nurse was here today and taught me how to change his gauzes. I'm very proud at how well he is handling this. His birthday is this month and turning 52. We both know some have it harder but we know our own personal hells. Moving on...

So I have been watching movie after movie and enjoying the heck out of myself. I watched Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal and I am in love with that movie. I watched it on my laptop, but I'm going to watch it again on our big T.V. It has the most wonderful graphics and it's not too corny which is a big plus for me.

So I'm waiting for my wheat shells to thaw out so I can make dinner. Until we meet again...so long.

Toast and Ancient Aliens

After 5 days, I have a husband home again. This is a hospital's idea of going home the following day...

So the patient knows what to bring and the family knows what's going to happen as far as bringing patient home.

Patient- Do you know how long I will be here?
Doctor- If all goes well and I don't see any problem here, the next day.
Wife- Oh good, I won't pack anything extra for him, just clothes.
Family- Its only a 1 and a half hour drive, no problem. We will be here.
Doctor- Comes out after surgery and tells family all went well, the family is relieved, wife grabs packed the bag, after all, the patient won't need it says the nurse. (At this point family had to leave and the patient is still in recovery). Wife is sad.

5 days later husband is finally well enough to come home with a home nurse coming 3 times a week for a couple of weeks. Then he gets to go back for the grafting and do this all over again.

But the surgery went well. They removed the boils from his hidradenitis around his groin area and he has a vacuum-pack attached sucking out all the poisons and is extremely uncomfortable.

A very nice male nurse is here as we speak working on him now. My husband is mostly a champ about all this, but it does catch up with him. I try and help the best I can making him toast for breakfast and found his favorite show on Netflix called Ancient Aliens.

HiHo HiHo Its off to the hospital I go...

Tomorrow is a long-awaited day of surgery. Hidradenitis is a god awful disease which my husband has suffered from for many years.

He has already has had more surgeries than we care to remember to which the infected area will be cut out.

So here we go again with the "no food after midnight" which normally who eats after midnight but not being able to makes you hungry. So 15 minutes to midnight you eat a huge meal...weird but true.

Then the "nothing but clear fluids" and we already have a can of concentrated apple juice thawing on the counter. That's when out of nowhere you want anything but clear liquids.

The "no smoking" rule which he can crow excitingly haha already quit six months now. That's one rule out of the way.

There's the "no aspirin" which in my husband's case he takes one a day to avoid a heart attack so we stay quite calm for 2 weeks. Yoga anyone?

"No coffee" the morning of surgery which I personally hate and I myself was actually sent home  once because I had drunk some coffee the morning of my own surgery without thinking. Had to do the prep all over again which sucked.

And we all know that after we wake up from surgery and are given ice chips and we all know how good those ice chips are, we are starving and want food and hopefully we get anything but jello.

I wish he didn't have to go through all this and I'm not looking forward to spending the day at the hospital but its my wifely duty and I will be right there by his side when he wakes up.
