Picking Away At My To-Do List

I'm happy to announce that I actually got to my photos arranging them they way I want them, at least on my desktop. Now for my albums and Photobucket. A little here a little there, don't worry as long as you advance forward.
I am experimenting with my Pinterest Boards on the advice of someone I read said would help my boards be more focused on what I'm most interested in and blog the most about. For example, I have a Purple Board. I'm sure you have seen those boards are beautiful but do I ever talk about purple when I post? Not yet anyways. So I made it secret along with a few others. The idea is to attract fellow pinners who have the same interests as you do focusing on blogging of course in an effort to draw in traffic.

After I checked my email and clicked on a link for YouTube and there went two hours! I was drawn into underwater ocean life moving on to my favorite The Paranormal stories.

I seem to be doing alright with my weekly posting which is:

  1. Monday Memories
  2. Television Tuesdays
  3. Wednesday Redos (at least until I'm caught up)
  4. Thursdays Trivia
  5. Frugal Friday

Sat. & Sun. a little studying, sweeping and polishing to be the best I can be. If not I know how to Google and ask for help.

Until then, have a wonderful evening/day.

How To Enjoy Your Fridays

I don't know what you do for a Friday but I had a stimulating (damn that hamster wheel) time catching up on all things blog related.I even took notes. I kinda snickered at the newness that was me when I first started out. Not to say I don't have a million more things to learn.

First off I went through my news-feed, timeline and Grandma Rose page. On my Grandma Rose blog Facebook added some features when you click on 'Sign up' button. I almost got sucked in and started to see what the new features were but stopped myself. That was a close one!

I scrolled down my news-feed clicking on the 'like' button and I think I got them all. It's funny that ever since I cut back on my 'friends list' I keep getting friend requests of men who have just started a page, there were ten of those...bye bye.

Next was putting my posts to my Pinterest board named Grandma Rose's Blogs. My board is looking so pretty you should go see it hint hint. As I got further along going back from when I started noticing pictures that weren't centered correctly, I didn't know about clicking the +1's, I was reminded that some of my pictures had disappeared a while back I remembered that I had to put the pictures back in. ~Sigh~ More work!

That has gone on my to-do list and I will tackle it when I'm in the mood, or not. But little by little I will replace them. Then I noticed some of the font was really tiny making me wonder what the hell? So I think it's safe to say I have got my work cut out for me.

I love learning new words or being reintroduced to one. I ran across a list of them and will add a word a day.

Word#48 Jejune: dull, puerile

In a sentence: The storyteller was very jejune so I fell asleep.

How To Be A Better Blogger Can Steal Your Day

Where did my day go??
Determined to learn more about blogging fixing my photo on my last post thanks to Jeremy Crow over at The Whackos Blog I took a nap. You did what? I thought you were going to tell me something about Stealing you're asking yourself. I started when I got up!

In my pursuit of being the best blogger in the whole wide world, at least, to me and my loyal readers, (all three of them) I sit with new determination and start typing in the keywords that will make my dream come true. When I had rolled out of bed it was bright and sunny. A great day for Vermont. I read what comes up, some of it I can understand but come on, I'm not asking for college courses, free this or free that hmm.

I found the perfect answers when I typed in how to be a better blogger for dummies. That did the trick! As I'm reading with awe and amazement that I actually understood what was written in front of me taking notes as I'm reading and pinning to Pinterest. You can find that on my Pinterest link on the right side of  this posting. Blogs/Bloggers/Blogging Tips & Tricks is the board.

Which reminds me to go back and check my own board instead of pinning and bookmarking to my favorites. The list got so long no wonder I scared myself!  Needless to say, I'm hard at work studying, finding really cool generators, getting tips, joyfully reading along I notice it's getting darker...and darker...I'm squinting now, I look up to no more sun it's pitch black outside. Being a better blogger just stole my day!

Here is what I accumulated while the day went by.

Getting Organized and Checking Off Pinterest

Oh, the drudgery but the end results are fantastic! My Pinterest board looks great with every pin in its place. I took out the doubles getting my cuteness overload from my baby animal board. Even my inner voice was high pitched with awwws and I want one! Happiness is a nice clean board. Now moving on.

1. Gather up my story.

I have started my stories of my life and the pages are scattered to the four corners of the web. Well, maybe not that far but the pages are here and there. I have already started putting the pages I have found in one folder. The goal is for my grandchildren to have a record of my life.

2. Sort Out Pinterest
I have I think thirty boards and somewhere along the line my pins need to be transferred to the correct board. I worked on that yesterday completing one board. Twenty-nine to go.

3. Photos

I once tried putting a search from the start menu for photos and my desktop screen disappeared with thousands of photos covering it in an effort to get them all in one place. These photos are of course a story in themselves which I could use for my blog. I have had Photobucket for years now, leaving it to be covered in cyber dust. In coming back it looks like my brain, scattered.

4. Memories for Posts
Being fifty-seven I have had the most amazing memories that I want to post about. The helping part of me. Again, where do I start? Maybe a name change which I have no idea how to do that.

5. Teaching Myself Blogging

I have bookmarked a list of reading material to elevate my understanding of blogging. I stopped bookmarking, for now, I have to go back and read them.

6. The Fun Stuff
I want to learn about the fun side of blogging. The pictures you can do yourself, etc.

7. Housework

I went into my bedroom to get a cooler dress on. It has become very warm this afternoon. While I was in the bedroom I made the bed, went and got an old sock to dust with. Back pain kicked in and I'm now sitting down.

I Have A Problem, Maybe You Can Help:)

I have a problem. I have taken to making notes about what I would like to post about. I have made a To-Do list as well. I'm pretty sure I am the baby of this blogging world with eight months in. (The neatest thing happened. I was looking at my views on my way to tweaking my blog and saw 7900 views. I looked up telling my husband this. He called up my blog reading my post and right before my very eyes the numbers changed to 8000).

Anyways I will write down my thought for a post on my little notepad next to my laptop. It's a lot faster than the two whole minutes calling up my on-line list! Here is the problem. I have more ideas than I do days. What would you suggest for I don't want to overwhelm myself and run down the street yelling too many ideas!!

Here is my To-Do List

1. Gather up my story.
I have started my stories of my life and the pages are scattered to the four corners of the web. Well, maybe not that far but the pages are here and there. I have already started putting the pages I have found in one folder. The goal is for my grandchildren to have a record of my life.

So bring on the ideas and what thoughts makes your world go 'round.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer You Say

When I was browsing memes for my blogging and Pinterest I came across this one of Grandma and cracked right up.

Take that reindeer. You are now a wall ornament. Too funny.

For years, I have laughed at that song.

As long as it wasn't MY Grandma the song was hilarious.

Until I became a grandma. Now we are getting serious folks.

My apologies to all Grandmas reading this.

Now I love spiked eggnog but not enough to go walking through the woods after drinking too much.

Although I do remember in my drinking days I did get turned around in a wooded area and was fortunate to find a person's house that I knew.

Being night blind, add no moon, it was dark and scary, scary and very dark. But I heard no wildlife thank goodness.

Enjoy the song.

15 Days 'Till Christmas

Here we are with me sitting at my desktop gazing at my pretty lit up tree letting my mind relax and wander as my past, present and future are playing nicely with each other over in the cornfield. Where did that come from you ask, Cornfield? Children of the Corn, what a scary movie. I either relate subjects to movies I've watched or music, two subjects that are very close to my heart, always been and always will be.

I read a few of my favorite blogs, which are on one of my Pinterest boards, which got me to thinking about my own Grandma Rose writings and what I started out thinking I was going to blog about to what kind of blogging I'm falling into now. At first, I wanted to share my memories with the world or rather whoever came across my blog and that’s it. That kind of thinking came from the book I have been writing for the last I'll conservatively offer at least 6 years or so. I have made it to my twenty’s in that book and at first, it was an unpleasant feeling some of those memories so I would stop then start up again getting rewarded with happier memories.

Since that book, I started another book about my time working at a carnival. It will be fiction. To tally it all up, I have 2 books going, emails, blog posting, Pinterest, G+, Blog reading, and let's not forget Facebook where all my other on-line friends and family since 2000 are. When I first got my computer I was so thrilled to start meeting people I would never have a chance to know. My first thing to do was being a pen-pal and I still have friends from that time. Amazing right?

I'm a 'that grass is greener over that fence, I know it is' kinda woman. Half the fun is getting over that fence. When I do get over sometimes it's greener, sometimes it's not. Such is life. I finally found my 'green pasture' in the form of being married to a great guy, having two great adult children,( I have a third, my first born, but her whereabouts are still a mystery, family, and friends that love me. And one fairly new grandson. He is almost four-month-old and even if I belong to 'Sad Grandmother's Across America', S.G.A.A. (This is not a real place) I felt part of that sadness slip away left with a better feeling. FINALLY.

So I am up with my giant cup of coffee and put a photo into our family online photo album of little Barrett. That's all caught up. It's my daily go-to place when I want a smile. Actually several times a day. Last night I started a secret board of little Barrett. His mother wishes for her baby son not to be splashed all over the web, so I honor her wishes. I LOVE it. They are the same pictures as Tinybeans only bigger. I worked on that for about forty-five mins.

I also went through all fifty-odd something emails which took me around off and on all afternoon into the evening taking me, at least, three or four hours. Being in this chair for that long doing all this on-line activity, not to mention getting up for the nurse coming in, eating and binge watching Arrow on Netflix, I wondered to myself, how in the world does someone who's a blogger, has a small store or BOTH handle it all? Right now I'm concentrating on Pinterest and I'm pretty proud of it so please take a look and tell me what you think. The button is on the right-hand side of this post.

So I reminded myself and I think I said it out loud to Mr. Rose, I am just going to go with the flow and hope it all works itself out which so far in life I've been lucky that way. Have a great day or night wherever you're at.

How do you organize your daily on-line activities? I love stories so do tell.

My Interest In Pinterest Is Growing

I am really getting into my Pinterest boards. I will put aside around 2 hours to look for "pins" and will go look at other boards as well.

I was a little puzzled when I came across someone giving "tips" about Pinterest saying you should clean it out every so often, but I'm sure that will come to me.

There is so much beauty out there in the world and it appeals to the traveler inside of me.

I proudly compiled a list of my "boards" so I can show off my hard work and I love the way you get connected to each other on these boards.

  • Homemade Goodness
  • Life and its different styles
  • My Favorite T.V. and Netflix shows
  • Anything To Do With Movies
  • Roses Aren't Always Thorny
  • Baby Animals
  • Halloween...The most mystical time of year
  • Into The Mystic
  • I Love Black Cats
  • Got 9 Tattoos Of My Own

Like all things I wished I had started earlier but what the hell, I'm going to live forever anyways.

So go check out my boards and if you have a Pinterest account I will go look at yours as well.

Morning in the life of Grandma Rose...

I'm assuming you care about my morning routine, if not I'm going to tell you anyways...~snicker~

This is my idea of a coffee.
6 am-12 pm-

6 am...
Eyes open, hello world as I pad silently over to the coffee pot. Let's get some coffee brewing. The comforting sound of coffee brewing starts when I push the button to red.

Sits down at the computer and writes idea from last night for a blog. (This is what I do to make the most of "why can't I fall asleep" time).

I decide to check gmail first this am. I have decided to pay more attention to Pinterest especially since I figured out how to put their button on my blog so I go through the Pinterest emails first.

Oh crap the coffee's done...I get up to make my coffee.

It goes like this-
Follow...follow...like...like...repin...repin...
Hmmm...Decides to start a couple of new boards and gives Halloween its own board.
I mean really Sheryl, things that make you smile? EVERYTHING makes me smile.

I finish up satisfied for at least this morning.
Puts on back burner...google "why do you need Pinterest"?

Goes through more emails...replies to fellow bloggers that I'm beginning to feel more familiar with.

Bloggers are awesome.

I click on Get Scariest Stories email from U-Tube...listen...listen...(more time goes by, it's getting brighter outside)

I somehow end up watching Jimmy Fallon who's antics totally crack me up.

I eat a frozen smoothie thinking wow, 5 hours went by just like that.
The frozen smoothie did nothing to fill me up so I grab some leftover casserole adding butter to it. I know, I know, damn calories.

I groan to myself like a whiney child, "I don't want to log into MyFitness Pal" even tho it takes minutes of my time but that's too long I sigh.

I go and log in to MyFitness Pal and sure enough in just a few minutes I'm done. Is it okay to leave out my mints because once I start on 1 mint it turns into 20? Now my inside voice is chiding me..."Count those in as well".

I sigh, as I see reality in writing is a lot different than when I'm sucking on those mints 2 at a time. Especially if they melt in your mouth when they are especially fresh.

I think to myself...do I really need to lose weight? Another sigh, I'm tired now, time for a nap. Is it too soon to think of taking another nap?
