This is what I like to do. I like sharing the movies I watch and you can decide what you would like to try out.
Here are some links to get you going. If one site is down or doing maintenance, try again later.
As I'm sitting here I'm rubbing my eyes, flexing my wrists and rolling my shoulders trying to get some feeling back into my fingers. The reason for my title is three hours ago I decided, after making sure I posted toTheWhackoBlogmy tips for chronic pain in a reasonable amount of time, to dress up my header for my blog. If you haven't gone to see Jeremy Crow's blog I highly suggest you go take a gander.
So I head for YouTube where you can find Mike Raven'ssometimes hilarious videos, and Jeremy Crowas well. go take a look you won't regret it.
You know how it is, let's try this one...nope, let's try another. I'm using newbie, beginner, dummy taglines so I can learn how to make my header pretty. I finally find a couple that I like and with several screens open I begin to learn.
As I'm going along with the video I had picked out I come to find out I don't have to dress up my header, I can take out the colored background. I'm jumping from screen to screen, back and forth, pause video, bring up my blog, make the switches, repeat.
In between this, I get my crock-pot remembering I wanted to make my homemade spaghetti sauce, so I do that. We are having hot dogs now. Dinner will be much later. Such is the life of a blogger. I say this with a smile.
Click here, clicks there, hmmm. Somethings not right. On my sidebar, it looks messy. I begin to edit taking out this and that until I was satisfied with what I had accomplished. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I was having troubles with where I wanted to switch my gadgets around so thank-you Tim Clark over at Life Explained. I used your blog as my example because I liked the clean lines.
Tim is another wonderful blogger so go see him as well.
Hotdogs are boiling. My poor husband is hungry but patient. My fellow blogger friends were a big help even if they didn't even realise it.
How do you like the new look? Any tips I will take.
What would you do if you knew that someone very close to you was getting hurt emotionally, physically and mentally living hundreds of miles away from you? That endless worry. The helplessness. The hope that it will all turn out for the better.
I have been through this myself. So I know both sides of the fence. The pain of the one you love hurting you, how could they do this to you, you ask yourself. The promise of never doing it again. The 'Honey Moon' stage where the, in this case, man, is on his best behavior for a few weeks even months only to start all over again.
The embarrassment, you don't want anyone to know, it's too embarrassing, the excuses, 'he was drunk' 'he was in a bad mood' 'it's my fault', 'I shouldn't have made him mad'. 'But I love him'.
Believe me, you can love again.
I am in a healthy relationship now but it took me forever, I was darn near my 50's to be in one. I used to drink like a fish. My friends were all drinkers, the parties were never-ending. So, of course, that circle of friends became my world. The men I would choose thought nothing of hitting, pushing, stealing, even spending days away only to come back all sheepish and sorry with their bag of empty apologies.
You want to leave. The thought of being 'single' and alone scares and makes you unbelievably sad crying at the thought of it. Uprooting your life is always scary and unpredictable. You tell yourself I can change him I will just love him more. You have a tender loving heart, I can change him.
I learned through groups for abused women several things. Top of the list was if they hit, shove, choke, lay their hands on you for any reason is totally unacceptable. A man is bigger, stronger, and he should walk away. When a couple chooses to get drunk together there's another excuse. 'He was drunk', 'I was drunk', and the famous, 'I will never drink again'. A couple of days go by and it's how bout one drink, then it's two, here we go again.
I have been there up close and personal. I have been pushed to the point of blacking out, severely hurting someone to the point I could have ended up in prison. I had no idea who I was. I had finally had enough and as I call it, went solo for 2 years give or take before meeting my husband. I still drank, he didn't. As time went by I slowly lost interest in drinking to where I am today. I still like to have a couple here and there but can go months without.
My husband has a saying and with great patience would repeat, "I am not the enemy". I have a pretty thick head and I am very stubborn but it finally started sinking in. We build each other up not try and tear each other to pieces.
A prayer and a song for all the women and in some cases men who will acknowledge their self-worth and break free from any kind of abusive behavior. You are supposed to have each other's backs, not break them.
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self control I fear is never ending
Controlling
I can't seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence I'm convinced
That there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting, reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence I'm convinced
That there's…
Hello everyone, I am sitting here on my third glass of wine, (Happy Holidays) not a care in the world. It's rare I relax enough to know that my problems are not that taxing, it's the holidays. Weird no snow yet but be careful what you wish for.
I have my headphones listening to all the songs from my past, of course mostly Classic Rock on YouTube. Kid Rock, Shania Twain, Eminem, the list goes on. I think I'm describing myself.
So I'm sitting here thinking of all the things I think of plus all the new information today has brought. One positive touched on my 'Empty Nest' thingy. I was reading Chumplady who I have followed since July, (I'm a groupie) don't laugh, and she touched on some really positive non-guilt reasons you cheer when your kids move out.
So I'm talking to Mr. Rose about this and I'm setting up the story right. Then I go unless you have a husband. Oh Lawdy, what a laugh. Believe it or not, this came out of me gazing at my Christmas fairy at the top of our tree, an angel is saying WTH aka what the hell?
That 'locker smell' remains with a husband. But it's worth it.
If this post jarred any memories, I love stories so do tell.
When I was browsing memes for my blogging and Pinterest I came across this one of Grandma and cracked right up. Take that reindeer. You are now a wall ornament. Too funny. For years, I have laughed at that song.
As long as it wasn't MY Grandma the song was hilarious. Until I became a grandma. Now we are getting serious folks. My apologies to all Grandmas reading this. Now I love spiked eggnog but not enough to go walking through the woods after drinking too much. Although I do remember in my drinking days I did get turned around in a wooded area and was fortunate to find a person's house that I knew. Being night blind, add no moon, it was dark and scary, scary and very dark. But I heard no wildlife thank goodness. Enjoy the song.
